There are big changes afoot at Hearthstone, and I'm excited to tell you! We've got several new groups starting in the new year: Mindfulness-Based New Parents Support Group (for All Parents & Babies up to 6 months) in both SF and the East Bay, a 3rd group for Solo Parents, and a new group for Non-Bio Queer Parents (Babies welcome). We're also switching to an online registration system, so you can sign up and pay with a credit card whenever is most convenient for you! This is a big change, since previously credit payments had a processing fee attached; I'll now be covering that fee, so you're welcome to use your card any time! Check out the support groups link for more info on all the options, and I hope you'll join us soon!
I'm teaching a new class! We're taking a whole new approach to Newborn Care classes, and it should be a really great experience. The prenatal class reviews all the basic babycare techniques new parents will want to know (mindfulness in parenting, what to expect after birth, when and how to swaddle, diapering, soothing, interpreting baby's cues, etc.), using a hands-on approach to learning and lots of interaction. Then there is a postpartum class, where parents can return with their babies to review those skills in a real-life context! They can return to the postpartum class as many times as they wish for review and check-in, and can sign up for both or just the one they anticipate needing most. Check out the website for more details, and to sign up! www.carmelblue.com (Feel free to pass this on.)
Our Single Moms group is expanding! There will now be two: The Single Pregnant & Postpartum Moms Group, which will meet Sunday mornings, and the Single Moms of Babies & Toddlers, which will meet Sunday afternoons. This is an exciting change, as it will allow us to focus more specifically on the shared experiences of the members of each group. Expanding into two separate meetings will also allow more time to focus on and deepen our individual check-in time, with time open in the 2nd half of the meeting for discussion of topics of interest to the group, such as balancing work and single motherhood, finances, dating,
'Like' us on facebook, and review us on Yelp, Hearthstone Midwifery is leaving the nest and getting out into the world! We're also on Linked In, and who knows what other shenanigans we'll get up to over here. It's time to come out!
The Prospective Single Moms group has been such a pleasure to host, I'm ready for more! Officially sending out a welcome to those single mamas who are pregnant or parenting, and to those queer folk (single or partnered) who are on the journey (anywhere, be it considering parenthood, baby on its way, or already parenting)!
