This special 4.5 hour combo class is designed exclusively for Solo Parents! This particular combination of topics is oriented toward the expecting parent who has some experience with babies, and wishes to focus on those topics and skills specific to being a primary care provider. We will cover Breastfeeding for the first half, and Newborn Care for the second half, with a brief break in between.

Breast, Chest & Bottle Feeding Preparation
Join us for an informative and experiential introduction to the joys, challenges and techniques involved in the amazing world of breastfeeding. While breastfeeding is an instinctive and natural way for mothers to feed their babies, it almost always comes with a steep learning curve that requires patience and support to navigate. Accelerate that curve by learning beforehand what to expect, how to prepare, and how to set yourself up for success in your breastfeeding relationship. We will explore what resources can be most helpful, local options and how to line up support ahead of time, and insights gleaned from those that have gone before you.

- Health benefits of lactation for mom and baby
- Basic anatomy and physiology of the lactating breast/chest
- Correct positioning and latch
- Troubleshooting painful latches & knowing when to call for support
- How to read baby's cues, knowing when to nurse and when they're done
- Common challenges and how to avoid or address them
- Breast/Chest-pumps and bottle feeding
Newborn Care
Join us and learn how to care for your newborn from those very first moments after birth, so that you can enter this new phase of your life confident and ready to begin!
An experiential class, each member in our intimate group setting will receive personalized instruction and hands-on training in how to care for their new baby. Members will leave feeling more familiar with newborn qualities and behaviors, and ready to tailor their new-found skills to their own newborn's unique needs.

- Interpreting baby's cues
- Cord care & newborn health
- Sleep patterns & what to expect
- Jaundice and other common newborn conditions
- Choosing a pediatrician & knowing when to call them
- When to feed the baby & how to know they're getting enough
- Supplies for bathing, diapering, nail trimming, skin care & more
- How to bond more deeply, improve your sleep & learn to trust your parenting instincts
... And will receive hands-on instruction in:
- Soothing
- Holding & Burping baby
- Bathing, nail trimming, the Colic Dance & other skills
Virtual Class Rates
As a private, personalized class, there is a fee of $240.
For a small, virtual group class, the fee is $135.
In Person Class Rates
If local covid numbers and a client's risk of exposure are low enough, I am also happy to offer in person private classes.
Masks and outdoor space or good air circulation are required.
If you come to my outdoor space in Point Reyes, or my office in San Rafael, then the fee is $240 for a private in person class.
If I come to your home, then the fee is the $240 private class fee, plus a travel fee (to be determined based on your location).
