Breast, Chest & Bottle Feeding Preparation Class

Join us for an informative and experiential introduction to the joys, challenges and techniques involved in the amazing world of breast/chestfeeding. While breast/chestfeeding is an instinctive and natural way for parents to feed their babies, it almost always comes with a steep learning curve that requires patience and support to navigate. Accelerate that curve by learning beforehand what to expect, how to prepare, and how to set yourself up for success in your breast/chestfeeding relationship. ​We will explore what resources can be most helpful, local options and how to line up support ahead of time, and insights gleaned from those that have gone before you.

In this thorough 2 hour Breast, Chest & Bottle Feeding Class, participants will learn:

• Health benefits of lactation for parent and baby
• Basic anatomy and physiology of the lactating breast/chest
• Optimal positioning and latch
• Troubleshooting painful latches & knowing when to call for support
• How to read baby's cues, knowing when to nurse and when they're done
• Common challenges and how to avoid or address them
• Breast/Chest-pumps and bottle feeding

If the birthing parent is partnered, both parents are strongly encouraged to attend.
​Solo parents-to-be are welcome to invite a support person if they prefer to do so, or to attend my virtual Breast, Chest & Bottle Feeding + Newborn Care for Solo Parents class.

Virtual Class Rates
As a private, personalized class, there is a fee of $165.​
As a small virtual group class, the fee is $115.

In Person Class Rates
I am happy to offer in person private classes in my office in San Rafael or in clients' homes.
I am medically vulnerable, so do wear a mask for indoor in person appointments and ask my clients to do the same,
as well as opening some windows and/or running an air purifier.
I understand this isn't possible or accessible for everyone, and am happy to meet outside or virtually as needed.

If you come to my office in San Rafael on a weekday, then the fee is $165 for a private in person class.
For in office classes on holidays and weekends, there is an additional $50 fee.
If I come to your home, then the fee is the $165 private class fee, plus a travel fee (to be determined based on your location).
(This option is especially useful if you want me to take a look at the supplies you have or space you plan to nurse in).
