Queer Parents Support Group
(Prospective, Pregnant/Baby on the Way, Postpartum & Parenting!)
Queer folk (individuals & couples) of all genders, expressions, orientations and intentions welcome! Join others in your community to share support, resources, encouragement and experience. This group is for: prospective parents (anyone contemplating parenthood and its many avenues, joys and challenges, whether you are committed or actively working toward parenthood, or are still in the exploratory stages), pregnant parents, those that have a baby on the way (via surrogacy, adoption or fostering), postpartum parents (3 weeks to 3 months), and parents of babies ages 3 months to 2 years. The intergenerational nature of this community encourages each of you to bring your unique experience into the circle, offering what you’ve learned, and learning from others that are at various other stages in the journey. Parenting can be a very isolating experience for Queer folk, especially when others in your community are not also on that path. Here we will find a shared language and experience, and make connections that can last through births, play dates, and beyond.
This group meets every other Sunday afternoon, in the East Bay. Due to the popularity of this group, it has now expanded into two separate groups! Prospective and Pregnant Queer Parents meet on Sunday afternoons, and Queer Parents of Infants and Toddlers meet on Sunday mornings, except for the final session of each series; for the sixth session of each series, all members will come together for an extended afternoon session of sharing resources with a wider circle and expanding community connections.
Facilitated by Rebecca Plum, of Hearthstone Midwifery.
